This adventure has Biggles, Ginger and Algy heading to Eastern Europe after being invited to start the Maltovian Airforce to help fend off sinister advances from their neighbours Lovitznia. Their efforts are hindered by the fact the head of the Maltovian armed services is in the pocket of the Lovitznians.

Once again Ginger manages to save the day, this time rescuing Biggles and Algy from a firing squad. And the love interest? - that comes from the Princess Mariana who rules Maltovia. Now if only Biggles had learnt a few things from James Bond.

However, whilst he's not like Bond in some aspects, in others they are two peas in the pod. From Biggles:
