Biggles and the usual suspects fly to Africa to try and find, as Raymond puts it, a black man. This man, Cetezulu, has a self-made plan to be king of Africa, and is killing people and stealing cattle as means to that end.

The team, especially Ginger, get close to him on occasion before a final showdown in a bamboo forest. Ginger had discovered his secret roadway, hidden in the forest, that allowed him to move the stolen cattle un-noticed. Biggles stampedes the cattle (with the help of the Mosquito and some low flying) and the gang is mopped up when they try and flee the hooves.
